I had been to see Sheffield United play at Coventry City one Tuesday night in early March 2009. We won 2-1, but better than that, as we were travelling back up the M1 just before 11pm, my mate Darren who was driving had BBC Radio 2 on, the Steve Lamacq show.
This song came on and there were these vocals and these guitars and I thought, bloody hell, who's this? Then there was a minute-long guitar duel at the end.
I was hoping nobody in the car would begin talking to prevent me hearing who it was but luckily nobody did so. I was on Sad Day For Puppets' Myspace page first thing the next morning and bought the 7" vinyl single Marble Gods (the song I'd heard on the radio)/Big Waves within a few days, and the album Unknown Colors when it came out in the UK in May, after first unsuccessfully trying to find the Swedish version on import.
So there you have it.
